Two large predicaments that cause even more conflict when coexisting. Food wastage and hunger act as two completely opposing forces.

In the state of our world now, over 193 million people are currently facing the devastations and adversities of hunger. Interconnected with poverty, discrimination, and inequity, hunger is an issue that accentuates environmental racism as well. With a lack of crops, lack of healthy soil, and a lack of economy, many communities are left starved.

With over 2.5 billion tons of food being wasted worldwide, food wastage is another worldwide adversity. The results of food wastage, such as unclean habitats, an increase in greenhouse gas emissions, and ruins to the economy, are all inevitable with the issue. In addition to critically damaging the environment, food wastage also deeply ties with racism and environmental discriminations.

With these two problems constantly continuing, both of their repercussions are more intense. When solving one of the problems, we can ultimately solve the other. By working towards policy change, raising awareness, and challenging corporations, we can correspondingly solve hunger in response to solving food wastage.
